The Taivalkoski museum of local history showcases the life of an ordinary Taivalkoski family in the 1930s. The cottage that is now the main building of the museum was built in the late 1880s at Mustalamminkangas, as a residence for the Loukusa forest ranger. It was moved to its current location in 1963, to be used as a museum of local history. Other buildings in the complex include three storehouses, a horse barn, a granary and a barn. There are about 2000 objects in the museum.

The Taivalkoski local history museum is situated near the parish village.
