Wirkkunen reindeer farm is located at Syötetie, about 25 km from the centre of Taivalkoski. The oldest buildings of this farm date back to the 17th century. The main building is about 200 years old as well.

This farm has historical significance also with regard to the jaeger movement which gained momentum during the first steps on the Finnish road towards independence.
