Flowing through the municipality of Taivalkoski, the River Iijoki provides excellent fishing opportunities: you can catch fish for every taste from Iijoki, its tributaries and the local lakes!
Fishing enthusiasts come from quite far to catch grayling and other fish here. There are also trout lurking in the waters. Decent stocks of pike, whitefish, pike perch and perch are swimming around in the lakes of Taivalkoski.
Iijoki is the southernmost major river in Finland, its mainstem spanning a length of about 370 km. Iijoki flows into the Bothnian Bay at Ii.
The river is considered to begin from the springs at Kuusamo, near Lake Iijärvi. The elevation difference is 250 metres. Iijoki and its surroundings are the perfect example of Northern Finnish nature: the river flows like an endlessly long ribbon of rapids and eddies. The upper reaches of Iijoki and its surroundings, particularly in the Taivalkoski area, are a part of a beautiful wilderness.
Come and fish at the Iijoki River! We hope you have a nice fishing trip!
