Kallioniemi – Kalle Päätalo’s childhood home

THE CHILDHOOD HOME OF KALLE PÄÄTALO

Located at Lake Jokijärvi, Kallioniemi is the childhood home of the writer and professor Kalle Päätalo. In addition to the residential building, the museum also includes a barn, a smoke sauna and a storehouse. The objects and items familiar from Kalle’s books are there to tell their story at Kallioniemi.

There is also a museum shop, selling souvenirs and literature related to Päätalo, local handicrafts, religious pastilles, old-fashioned lemonade and coffee with pastries.

Mon–Sun 10:00–16:00
Closed on Midsummer Eve

Admission: €9 / €7 for groups (minimum 10 people).
Combined ticket to Kallioniemi Museum and Päätalo Centre €12.
Children under 12 free of charge.
Weekly ticket to Päätalo Centre and Kallioniemi during Päätalo Week €20 (unlimited visits to both sites between 29 June–5 July 2026).

If you would like a guided tour for your group, the guiding fee is €100, which includes a one-hour tour. Additional hours cost €50 per hour, plus admission fees according to the group rate.

Groups can also visit outside opening hours by arrangement.
