THE CHILDHOOD HOME OF KALLE PÄÄTALO

Located at Lake Jokijärvi, Kallioniemi is the childhood home of the writer and professor Kalle Päätalo. In addition to the residential building, the museum also includes a barn, a smoke sauna and a storehouse. The objects and items familiar from Kalle’s books are there to tell their story at Kallioniemi.

There is also a museum shop, selling souvenirs and literature related to Päätalo, local handicrafts, religious pastilles, old-fashioned lemonade and coffee with pastries. Kallioniemi is open during summer, from the beginning of the Midsummer week until mid-August, every day from 10-17; guided tours available for groups also outside of the opening hours.
