KYLMÄLUOMA, PERMIT 4525

Fishing season: Check Eräluvat.fi
Area overview: Area consisting of lakes

Locations: The Kylmäluoma hiking area is situated in the north-eastern part of the municipality of Taivalkoski

Area: The area consisting of beautiful pine forest reserves and bogs offers two well-stocked lakes for fishermen, as well as a high-quality campsite with many great cabins and a visitor centre providing café and restaurant services.

The main catches are rainbow trout and trout, and you need not go far from the shore for great fishing spots. The smaller Katkeimalampi is located about a kilometre from the visitor centre, and it is reserved only for fly fishing. Somewhat unusually, the introduced species are grayling and carp. With any luck, you might catch a grayling well over 1.5 kilos with a fly.

Other restrictions
When fishing from the shore or from an anchored boat, the angler may use one (1) rod with one line. When trolling by rowing, fly fishing from a rowing boat, or fishing from the ice, the angler may use a maximum of two (2) rods, each with one line.

The rod must be held by the angler or kept within reach, no more than two metres away. The rod may not be left unattended while fishing. When fishing from the ice, one of the rods may be a so-called set-line ice fishing rod. If you are actively ice fishing, i.e. jigging, and at the same time have a set-line ice fishing rod in use, you must have paid the fisheries management fee in addition to the rod permit, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or turned at least 65 by 31 December 2023.

All fishing in Iso-Pajuluoma requires a Kylmäluoma rod permit. In Iso-Pajuluoma, general fishing rights — angling, ice fishing, and lure fishing with the fisheries management fee — are prohibited by a decision of the Lapland ELY Centre (record no. 2280/5710-2015) in order to safeguard the economic use of fish stockings. In other waters of the Kylmäluoma Hiking Area, fishing is permitted with the North Ostrobothnia–Kainuu (5411) rod permit or under general fishing rights: angling, ice fishing, and lure fishing with the fisheries management fee.

Minimum sizes: brown trout 60 cm, grayling 35 cm.

Children under 15 years of age can fish under the permit of an adult in the same group, sharing a catch quota. For children under 15 years of age who are fishing alone, there is a separate weekly fishing permit available for free at the Eräluvat online store.
